Welcome to the home page for Swansea Gospel Male Voice Choir. We are a choir of around fifty Christian men who love to sing about the good news of God’s salvation through His son. The choir began in the 1970s and has been singing to the praise of God for over forty years. We do this at a wide range of venues including Church buildings, concert halls, residential homes, hospitals and outside venues too.
The choir is made up of men of all ages who come from various Church backgrounds and geographical areas (including Swansea, Llanelli, Bridgend, Neath, Carmarthen and Llandrindod); our youngest members are in their 20s and our oldest approaching 90. All are united in a shared love for our Saviour the Lord Jesus Christ. The choir is part of the larger Festival of Male Voice Praise (FMVP). This is a fellowship of Gospel Male Voice Choirs from all over the UK which was established in 1934 by James McRoberts of Glasgow. Over the years our Fellowship has been joined by choirs from many other countries including Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the USA.
I am happy to have been the conductor of Swansea Gospel Male Voice Choir since 2008 having been deputy conductor for 19 years previously. My involvement with the choir has brought me immense pleasure and fun (as well as testing my patience keeping 40 choir men in order every week!) and it’s been a blessing of fellowship and a joy to practice weekly at Lonlas Gospel Mission Hall and to worship God and spread the Gospel together as we sing across Wales and beyond.
We warmly welcome you to our site – do browse through. You will find the ‘Contact’ page useful in answering frequently asked questions and can use the form on that page to contact us if for any reason you would like to. Recordings of the choir are available to listen to in the ‘Media’ page and the events page includes a list of all currently scheduled events.
Best wishes, Peter.
